Residents have been asked to remove all parked cars from local streets to allow Public Works crews to efficiently clear roadways of snow, as more than a foot is expected to drop in the region. Vehicles that remain parked on the street may be ticketed or towed, the Greenwich Police Department warned.
Greenwich Town Hall will be closed as of noon on Wednesday. All meetings and events planned for the afternoon and evening have been canceled. There will also be a partial activation of the Emergency Operations Center at the Greenwich Public Safety Complex.
The National Weather Service has predicted that as many as 12 to 15 inches of snow may hit the area, with wind gusts reaching upwards of 45 mph.
The snow emergency will remain in effect until the Board of Selectmen, which is the Town’s traffic authority, removes the snow emergency.
The Fire Department has also requested that residents “adopt a hydrant,” by clearing those closest to local homes of snow to help firefighters get quick access during a potential fire. Sidewalks should also be shoveled, which is required by the Town Code.
